Our Memory Cafe provides a safe, fun, and calming space for those living with memory loss and their caregivers to enjoy a wide array of refreshments, make new connections with those in their community, and relax with a rotating calendar of activities. These vary from music to crafts to magic shows! Although the Cafe is first and foremost a dementia-friendly space, it is open to any and all who would like to attend. At this time we are a group of almost entirely English speakers, but if this were to change we would love to bring on multilingual volunteers who could keep up good conversation or help with translation. All Cafes share one goal: to help guests feel comfortable and to know they are not alone on this journey. Guests who require personal assistance must bring a care partner; we are unable to provide direct care or supervision of guests. A wheelchair-accessible port-a-potty is available. In my first hand experience working with Beth Soltzberg (Director, Alzheimer’s/Related Disorders Family Support Program) I’ve found her passion for gathering, organizing, and sharing valuable resources to be both impressive and invigorating.
